Nacharam: Devotees of the 30-year-old Poleramma temple just have one way to reach the temple as the other path caved in and the compound wall broke down due to the ongoing construction work being undertaken by the Hyderabad Road Development Corporation Limited (HRDCL).
Local corporator Shekar said, “The temple committee members complained about the compound wall and the loss of pathway leading to the temple, as there is no way to enter in to the temple and locals are facing problem a lot of inconvenience due to the bridge construction work.” K Murali Krishna, assistant engineer, HRDCL, said, “The compound wall of the temple collapsed when the new bridge construction work started. The locals complained about the pathway near the temple. A sum of Rs 1 lakh would be allotted for the temple pathway construction which would begin by the end of this month.”
Locals have been a worried lot for the delay. Ram, a resident says, “If the works do not get completed by Navaratri it would lead to chaos as thousands visit the temple and as of now there is just one way that leads to the temple.”
Thousands visit Poleramma temple during Bonalu and Dasara festival. Around 25 priests perform special pooja during Navaratri apart from the daily religious activities. More than thousand devotees visit the temple not only on festival day but also on regular days,” says temple chairman Ishwaraya. Locals say, “There is no other gate to enter the temple and we are expecting the pathway work to be started soon. A special team from the temple is planning to meet the officials of HRDCL to speed up the process.
