Employees stage protest by wearing helmets at OGH

Afzalgunj: The staff and patients at the Osmania General Hospital (OGH) are living in perpetual fear.

Chips from the roof of the old building are falling off every other day, so much so that there have been three instances in the past one month itself.

In a novel protest the OGH staff protested by wearing helmets. Hemalata, president, Nursing Association, Osmania General Hospital said, “It was observed by the nursing staff for 15 days of chips falling off.

From the last three years we have been regularly requesting the government to construct a new building on the 7 acres which belongs to the Osmania Hospital but all our requests went unheard, even the entire 350 members of the hospital including ward boys and sweepers did a 902 days of strike but no one has come to solve this problem.

Three months back, officials inspected and promised to construct the new building. A plan was made but there is a delay due to unknown reasons said a senior staff.

It may be noted that a few years ago when chips were falling off during the monsoon season, patients were shifted to Petlaburj Maternity Hospital.

The staff has ever since been demanding for the construction of new blocks. On Tuesday too the staff took out a rally along with the entire hospital staff by wearing helmets.
