rampally raviHyderabad: A software engineer was arrested for allegedly creating a fake Facebook profile of a married woman and sending obscene content to disturb her marital life. The 23-year-old accused, Rampally Ravi of Karimnagar district was sent to judicial custody.

According to CID officials, Ravi tried to pressurise the woman to not marry a man of her parents' choice and even after her marriage, tried to have an affair with her. However, she refused his offer and made him apologise in front of the elders of the family for his indecent advances. Following this, he bore a grudge against her and decided to take revenge.

The accused decided to disturb the woman's personal life and created a fake Facebook profile on her name. He then posted objectionable content and morphed images of the woman and sent it to her husband and her friends, CID officials said.

The woman went through mental agony and faced a lot of trouble following which she lodged a complaint with the cyber crime police station of the CID in November 2012. After thorough investigation with the help of technical experts, the investigators arrested Ravi.

The accused confessed his crime and revealed that he had created the Facebook profile and posted objectionable content using his friend's computer in Hyderabad. Cyber crime officials seized a hard disk, memory card and other incriminating material from the accused.
