GHMEU wants justice to be done to outsourced employees platinumHyderabad: The State government's decision to sanction 2,607 new posts for Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has stirred up a new controversy. Soon after the announcement was made, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Employees Union (GHMEU) has put forward the demand of outsourcing employees who were working in the Corporation for the past 5 to 20 years. Talking to reporters on Monday, the union chief U Gopal said that justice would be done to the contract employees only if they were accommodated in the new posts. He pointed out that GHMEU gave representations to M Maheedhar Reddy, Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development, principal secretary, MAUD, GHMC commissioner and Mayor in this connection. He said that never before in the history of the Corporation the recruitments were made through APPSC. Gopal stated that it was an established practice to give a newspaper notification besides inviting eligible candidates from employment exchange, which would then be followed by the selection procedure. The civic body should absorb eligible outsourcing personnel into regular services in the present recruitment to 2,607 posts, urged Gopal. Lest, GHMEU would be left with no option but to face agitation on the issue, he warned.
