woman heldHyderabad : Chaderghat police on Monday arrested a woman for allegedly kidnapping a two-year-old boy from Kattelaguda area of Osmanpura on Sunday. The kidnap victim has been restored to his parents.

According to police, B Lakshmi of Kattelaguda picked up the boy T Ganesh and his sister T Saritha, who were her neighbours, around 4 pm on Sunday. She took both the kids to Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station (MGBS), but left the girl at the entrance and disappeared with the boy.

The kids' family suspected something fishy as neither Lakshmi nor the kids returned even after two hours and began searching for them. They found the girl crying at the main entrance of the MGBS, while the boy and Lakshmi were missing, police said.

Immediately, the boy's father T Yadagiri lodged a complaint with the police expressing suspicion over Lakshmi. Chaderghat police launched search operations and traced Lakshmi along with the boy in her native village Pitlam of Nizamabad district. Both were brought to city and the boy was restored to his parents, while Lakshmi was sent to prison.

Police said, Lakshmi lost her son six months ago minutes after he was born. However, this information was not known to her relatives in her native place. She wanted to please her relatives showing the boy as her own. However, the plan backfired and Lakshmi landed in prison, police said.
