Hyderabad: Telugu Desam Party leader and Mangalhat Corporator T Raja Singh will join Bharatiya Janata Party on April 14. In anticipation of desertion, the TDP city unit has suspended him from the party.
With his exit, the strength of TDP in GHMC would come down to 43. Although the party secured 45 seats in the civic body elections held in 2009, a member from Ramakrishna Puram division joined the YSR Congress earlier. "TDP never stood by me during my tough times and this is very difficult to digest considering I was an elected representative of that party," Raja Singh told The Hans India.
When questioned about the reason for choosing BJP over the other parties, he said that donning the saffron scarf would suit him because he was an active member of various Hindu groups.
