P V Ranga Rao (75), the eldest son of former Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao, died here on Thursday. Family sources said he died of heart-related ailment at his Himayatnagar home. He was not well for the past few months. According to his brother P V Prabhakar Rao, he went to a hospital last evening and had come back after a check-up, but developed complications and passed away in the wee hours. The funeral took place at Bansilalpet later in the evening.

Ranga Rao had pledged bachelorhood for life and has been living alone at a rented apartment in Himayathnagar.
He had donated his share of the hereditary wealth to schools. He gave 17 acres of his land to Gurukla girls’ school in Vangara, his native village in Karimnagar district. He sold 10 acres and gave Rs 10 lakh to the Collector’s fund and renamed the ZPHS high school after his mother and father (Satyam Narsimha High School). He was a great connoisseur of literature, music and performing arts.
