Venkaiah Naidu blames Congress for mess in AP

Hyderabad: Reiterating BJP’s support for Telangana statehood, BJP senior leader M Venkaiah Naidu on Sunday said that his views on bifurcation during debate held in Rajya Sabha, earlier, were completely distorted. Naidu said that he only made an appeal to the Centre to allay fears of the people of different regions in the wake of bifurcation decision.

Addressing a press conference here, the senior parliamentarian blamed the Congress party for the present mess in Andhra Pradesh. It is clear that Congress has not done its homework properly, he lamented. “Congress mismanaged Telangana issue with its double speak. In Telangana region it is claiming credit for statehood decision, whereas, in Seemandhra it has been pointing fingers at BJP and other parties for the bifurcation,” Venkaiah said, adding that saffron party would support the Telangana Bill if it is introduced in the Parliament.

Venkaiah Naidu was highly critical of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi for her remarks that UPA-3 would assume charge after next general elections. He demanded the Congress party to seek public mandate if it was so confident of it victory. Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Mizoram are slated to go for polls by end of 2013. BJP challenges the Congress to conduct general elections along with polls for five States, he said.

“The ineffective rule of the UPA led the country to a paralysis like situation. The prices of essential commodities including onion have touched the skies in recent weeks. The cost of buying a single piece of onion is equal to the price of two eggs at present,” Naidu rued.
