Responding to several queries with regard to the scheme, Akbar stressed that the government was actively interested in facilitating easier processing of funds which include direct transfer of Rs 51,000 to the bride’s personal bank account 10 days before her marriage. He also urged the aspirants to dial the the ‘Madad’ helpline at 040-24760452 or log on to Shaadi Mubarak website for any queries or clarifications.

Ghiasuddin Babukhan, chairman, Hyderabad Zakat and Charitable Trust, which rolled out the awareness drive in the interest of minorities welfare said that the trust has commissioned Rs 33 lakh from its account for improving the efficiency of Shaadi Mubarak scheme.

“Rs 100 crore commissioned by the government will be utilised for facilitating marriages of 20,000 minority girls over a period of five months. A number of identification verification practices are in place to ensure only genuinely deserving applications benefit from the scheme besides qualification criteria requiring the applicant to be a minority aged 18 years or older and is a citizen of Telangana State with family income below Rs 2 lakh,” he explained.
