The Government of India, which had decided to revise the National Health Policy- 2002, constituted an expert sub-group on healthcare regulation under the chairmanship of Navreet Singh Kang, additional secretary and DG (CGHS), health department, GoI, to formulate the new national policy on health.

Administrative Staff College of India's registrar (incharge), Prof. B Lakshmi, has been drafted into the expert sub-group. She is the Dean of research studies and director of Centre for Human Development and chairperson of Health Studies Area.

The expert sub-group will submit its interim report by December 15 and a final report within three months to the secretary, union ministry of health and family welfare. "It is a great honour to be part of the expert committee and it is also a recognition to the wonderful work ASCI has been doing in the field. Since it is a nation-building activity, we will focus all our energies to come up with a sound health policy," Prof. Lakshmi said.
