The Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University (PSTU) at Nampally introduced a Magic Course (certified course for six months) on Tuesday. This is the first-of-its-kind course in the field of magic. The course will be self-financed by the students. 25 students will be admitted to the course.

The Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University (PSTU) at Nampally introduced a Magic Course (certified course for six months) on Tuesday. This is the first-of-its-kind course in the field of magic. The course will be self-financed by the students. 25 students will be admitted to the course. The first batch is likely to commence shortly and 20 admissions have already been confirmed.

Professor Elluri Siva Reddy, Vice Chancellor, said, “Introducing a magic course is a welcome initiative which will flourish the profession of magic. Magic provides laughter and entertainment to all age groups.” KV Ramana Chary, advisor, cultural affairs, Telangana, said, “3 Ms--magic, mimicry and mime, are in high demand in India and across the world.

University authorities should organise the 3 Ms event in the February 2015. It will be the first event of such type in Telangana State. I will sponsor Rs 1 lakh for the event to meet the expenses of artists who come from villages and far off places. The Telangana government will extend the required support and help for promoting magicians.”

Mamidi Harikrishna, director, Telangana languages and cultural department, said, “Magic should become a career choice for the younger generation and should be used in a new direction and with a vision that will be useful to the society and public at large. The M in MAGIC stands for motivation, A for ambition, G for generosity, I for intelligence and C for creative.”

The programme was attended by dignitaries like registrar K Thomasaigh; BV Patabiram, hypnotist Samala Venu ,Talari Jaya Manohar and large number of magicians from AP and Telangana. Few magicians performed at the show which entertained the audience.
