A mock bomb threat and evacuation drill was carried out at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) on Tuesday to test the efficiency, response time, coordination as well as preparedness of security personnel and staff in the event of a bomb threat. The multi-agency mock drill was conducted and passengers were evacuated from the terminal as CISF personnel, along with the bomb disposal and detection squad, carried out searches for a bag planted in the terminal building as part of the exercise. The mock drill involved immediate operational movement of the security and operations teams of GMR Hyderabad International Airport (GHIAL), CISF, RGIA Police and other agencies. The drill was successfully conducted between 11 am and noon without causing any inconvenience to airport operations.
