Sriranga Samanvith Inkollu crusades against child sexual abuse

Sriranga Samanvith Inkollu, a XII grade student of Abhyasa International Residential School, Toopran, was crowned the winner of Horlicks Wizkid South Asian Finals, 2014. The competition is Asia’s largest interschool arts, literary and cultural fiesta for students of Class I to 12.

Samanvith represented Hyderabad in the finals and competing with around 40 other city-level winners from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, UAE and Bangladesh. He was awarded a scholarship worth Rs 1 lakh and a five day educational trip to Spain. The award is presented to exceptional students who display exemplary character and personality. For the finals, Samanvith was assigned a project titled ‘Child Sexual Abuse’. He coined his project ‘The Unheard Screams’ and raised awareness among 6,000 school children around Toopran. He covered almost 20 rural schools and a few schools in Hyderabad.

The school supported a rally which was led by him in Toopran on November 4 where almost 1,500 students took part and raised their voice against child sexual abuse. The efforts of Samanvith were recognised by children’s NGOs Divyadisha and Childline. Samanvith started an online campaign on Facebook which received more than 5,000 likes and garnered support from all quarters. The student also released a song called ‘The Unimagined’ on YouTube and promoted it via Facebook.
