It was probably the first time the youth didn’t bother cribbing about, even as their phone network was conked from 6 am till noon. But alas! All the enthusiasm surrounding the 4G service ended in anti-climax.

It was probably the first time the youth didn’t bother cribbing about, even as their phone network was conked from 6 am till noon. But alas! All the enthusiasm surrounding the 4G service ended in anti-climax.
It was widely rumoured that Airtel was testing its 4G services on Saturday to ensure that it was rolled out to the public from Republic Day. The customers were inconvenienced in the morning due to network failure. Many of them, who repeatedly tried to call their friends, relatives and others, remained perplexed from 6 am to 12.30 pm. Consequently, a lot of complaints were registered with Airtel offices that the network was dead.

On the receipt of complaints, Airtel management plunged into action and set right the technical lapses. Consumers heaved a sigh of relief closely after noon as their phones started functioning normally. Airtel cited that there was system integration and upgrades on the network that included over 2,500 cell sites in and around Hyderabad. However, somewhere in the communication loop, a snag led to a complete breakdown of its mobile services including voice and data.
