HMR to eliminate encroachments along Musi

The Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) authorities are pacing up demolition works. In a review meeting held on Tuesday, chief secretary Rajiv Sharma instructed HMR MD NVS Reddy, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner Somesh Kumar and officials of the revenue department to launch a drive for the removal of encroachments along the Musi River. With the number of properties to be demolished coming down to 254, the focus is now shifting to go ahead with preliminary works before Corridor-2 works begin.

Third bridge at Imliban

The chief secretary reviewed the construction plan of the third bridge connecting Rangmahal junction and Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station (MGBS). MG Gopal, principal secretary, MA&UD department, inspected the location of the proposed bridge along with NVS Reddy and engineers of the HMR and APSRTC. He directed the irrigation department to facilitate the construction of the bridge. He added that the acquisition of GVM properties should be simplified so as to expedite them faster.

The relocation of overhead electrical lines at Jubilee Hills Check Post, Peddamma temple, Madhapur, Madhuranagar, Khairatabad and Nampally were reviewed and the TSSPDCL authorities were directed to take up the work on top priority to avoid inconveniencing vehicular movement.

While reviewing the housekeeping works done by L&TMHRL at various construction locations, Rajiv Sharma advised that the restoration works should be done immediately after the construction to restore aesthetics and also to facilitate the free flow of traffic.
