Former president Dr APJ Abdul Kalam exhorted graduates from The National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) to be a step ahead of others at the convocation ceremony held at the institute’s premises in Balanagar on Friday. “Most students would be planning to enter big pharmaceutical industries and developing molecules to tackle various diseases. It is good to do that.

But why not think a step ahead? Students must think of an idea which will make the human body immune of all diseases without administering any drug. If any of you work towards it and become successful, it will be more than just working with any pharma industry,” Abdul Kalam said.

Kalam added, “Though many new molecules were being discovered across the globe, information on all these do not reach India. Even if they do, they are not feasible to the common man.” Concluding the convocation, Abdul Kalam advised all the students passing out to keep studying and researching and insisted them to work towards making medical facilities affordable to every sect of society.
