Having a soulful singer perform at your college fest is the best thing that can happen to a student. Not only students of TKR College, but many youngsters from the city, turned up for Arijit Singh’s gig on Saturday. A couple of weeks ago, Arijit had performed at Boulder Hills and enthralled the audience, but this gig was par excellence.

The protracted crowd swayed their hands as Arijit mounted the stage and jacked his guitar. Even after an hour since Arijit started performing, crowd kept pouring in. As he plucked the strings of his guitar, other musicians gradually caught up to the tempo, while the two women on the alto waited eagerly for their turn.

In the previous gig, Arijit concentrated more on his own compositions than covers, but this time, it was a perfect blend of his compositions and covers by various artistes. Among other covers of his, “Sadda Haq” and other tracks from ‘Rockstar’ stood out. Also, performing on a track like “Sadda Haq” created a linkage between the artiste and the college students.

Halfway through, Arijit slowly brought down the tempo by performing songs like “Main Rang Sharbaton Ka”. The whole crowd of around 3,000 people was swaying their hands in the air with every beat on the drums and every string of the guitar. Despite sweating profusely, Arijit was enjoying his sync with the audience. He was complimented by an amazing sound engineer on the console.

It often happens that the performance is hampered due to the sound engineer’s inability to set the console and speakers when it comes to open air gigs. Sunny is to be appreciated for making the sound so perfect for such a huge crowd. The clock struck 10 and everyone thought that the gig was over but there was another hour left for the soothing music to halt. The best of Arijit romped to the party. From Kailash Kher’s “Deewani” to Suraj’s “Give me some sunshine”, the energy was immense.

The artiste later moved on to perform his recent tracks like “Khamoshiyaan” and “Judai”. The conclusion of the gig was something no one in the crowd expected when Arijit performed his track “Neeve Na Neeve Na”. With this item, the evening came to an close and everyone took home a whole lot of soothing music and memory. The gig added to the list of concerts every Hyderabadi anticipates.
