GHMC divisions to be expanded to 200

The State Government on Tuesday issued GO No 60 thereby increasing the number of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) divisions to 200 from the present 150. Commissioner Somesh Kumar said that the process for the delimitation of wards and reservation of seats will be completed in 249 days.
The State Government on Tuesday issued GO No 60 thereby increasing the number of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) divisions to 200 from the present 150. Commissioner Somesh Kumar said that the process for the delimitation of wards and reservation of seats will be completed in 249 days. This will include the BC voters identification, marking, reservation and objection claims. The elections will be completed in 30 days.
The work will begin from April 1. Polls should have been conducted in November last year with the expiry of the elected body but it was delayed for various reasons and the corporation was brought under the special officer's rule. Post the division, there will be one ward for every 34,000 people.
