Drunk driving: 146 imprisoned
As many as 146 motorists were imprisoned for drunken driving by the third and fourth Metropolitan Magistrate Courts at Erramanzil in the city on Friday.
Hyderabad: As many as 146 motorists were imprisoned for drunken driving by the third and fourth Metropolitan Magistrate Courts at Erramanzil in the city on Friday.
The courts have imprisoned six persons for a period of seven days, one person for five days, 11 persons for three days, 20 persons for two days, five persons for a period of one day and 103 persons were imprisoned till the rising of the court, said Additional Commissioner (Traffic) Jitender in a press release.
He said that the motorists were caught during the enforcement drives by the traffic police against drunken driving from March 1 to 17. As many as 540 persons were caught including 428 bikers and 79 four-wheeler riders.
Since January 2016, as many as 3,024 persons were caught while driving vehicles in drunken condition and 847 among them were imprisoned by the courts, said the additional commissioner, adding enforcement drives would continue during day time, as per the guidelines of the Supreme Court.
