New York: One of the magazine editors who died in the Charlie Hebdo Paris massacre knew that he would be murdered in cold blood someday, claims his girlfriend.

According to New York Post, Jeannette Bougrab, 41, told French TV station BMFTV of Stephane Charbonnier - aka "Charb" that "he lived without fear, but he knew he would die."

She said that he never had children because he knew he was going to die.

The Daily Mail quoted her as saying that she knew he was going to die like Theo Van Gogh -a Dutch cartoonist who was killed in November 2004 by Muslim extremists for questioning the treatment of Muslim women.

Bougrab said that she had begged Charbonnier to leave France but he wouldn't.

"My companion is dead because he drew in a newspaper," she said.
