Hindus have welcomed the idea of Meditation/Reflection Room in San Diego Mesa College (SDMC) campus in San Diego (California).

Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada today, said that an interfaith space in the shape of Meditation Room would be a step in the positive direction for SDMC. Many educational institutions in USA and Canada already had prayer/meditation room/chapel for quiet reflection and spiritual exercise.
Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, pointed out that with the presence of Meditation Room, SDMC students would have a spiritually meaningful life in addition to material success after they graduate from here. Meditation Room would be another feather in SDMC’s cap in making it a top class and wholesome community college.
Moreover, SDMC needed to recognize the intersection of spirituality and education, Rajan Zed added.
SDMC claimed to be “one of the largest and most successful of California's 113 community colleges”, founded in 1964, serves about 25,000 students in a 104-acre campus. Its vision includes "educate our students to shape the future" and Pamela Luster is its President.
