Congress may suffer in 2014 polls: DL

Myndukur (Kadapa): Health Minister D L Ravindra Reddy expressed his anguish at the State government's decision to increase the power tariff and also expressed fears that the tariff hike might damage the Congress party's prospects in 2014 general elections. Speaking to the media here, D L Ravindra Reddy said the Congress party came into power based on a promise that a seven-hour free power supply would be provided to agricultural pump sets. "I brought the matter of power crisis to the notice of Congress senior leaders several times but no action was taken so far to tide over the power crisis in the State," he lamented. Reminding that the TDP was defeated in 2004 general election due to the hike in power charges, Minister D L Ravindra Reddy said that the present Congress government appeared to be following in the same path and expressed his fears that the hefty hike might damage the Congress party's prospects in the ensuing elections.
