Kadapa: The 'Ugadi Nirnayam' (Ugadi decision) programme organised by Jana Vignana Vedika in Kadapa on Thursday attracted all. Preaching, "Don't get attracted by the advertisements of multinational companies and spoil your health. Preserve health by drinking traditional beverages," members of Vedika have distributed Ugadi chutney to the public at the Collectorate.

Speaking on the occasion, IMA state secretary Gouse Peer said that body will get dehydrated due to exposure to Sun and coconut water, buttermilk, lemon juice will help the body to get back the salts. The chemicals, colours mixed in the cool drinks will do harm to the body, he added.

DWAMA PD Yadubhushan Reddy, Jana Vignana Vedika district secretary Raghunatha Reddy, Dr Putha Bali eddy and others explained about the harms caused by cool drinks.

Ugadi celebrations held in Nellore Nellore: District Collector B Sridhar has participated in the Vijayanama Ugadi celebrations held at the Sri Venkateshwara Kasturba Kalakhsetra here on Thursday. A Ugadi was celebrated here with great fanfare keeping in view the greatness of Telugu traditions and culture.

The programme started with a musical concert (Nadaswaram) by M D Venkat Raju and his group and the New Year's Panchangam was read out by Machavolu Bhaskara Sastri describing the positions of planets and stars. A poetry reciting session was held by 12 poets. Later, musical and dance programmes were organized by the students of Gurukrupa Kalaparishad. Poets and artistes were honoured on the occasion by presenting mementoes and shawls.

District Judge N Srirama Murthy, Joint Collector B Lakshmikantham, Additional Joint Collector Penchala Reddy, District Revenue Officer Rami Reddy, DRDA Project Director Penchala Reddy and DRO Rami Reddy were present on the occasion.
