I will strive to make Satavahana Varsity numero uno: Ponnam

Karimnagar: “I will strive to make the Satavahana University as numero uno varsity in Telangana,” disclosed Congress MP Ponnam Prabhakar. He was addressing a press conference at the Satavahana University here on Saturday. Speaking on the occasion, the former ministers and Minister for Civil Supplies D Sridhar Babu worked for establishing and developing the university. In fact, the State government has sanctioned Rs 10 crore two days ago and an engineering college was granted under the jurisdiction of the varsity, he informed. Courses will start from next academic year and EEE, ECE and CSE branches will be offered in the college, he said.

Science building, library, compound wall, boys and girls hostels would be constructed with the aid granted by the government. He suggested to the officials concerned to take measures for improving standard in education in all the colleges apart from providing basic amenities. He also advised them to promote sports and cultural programmes for all-round development of the students.

Varsity Vice-Chancellor Veera Reddy appealed to the denizens, NRIs, entrepreneurs to donate for the development of the varsity.

Rly reservation counter opened Later, MP Ponnam Prabhakar inaugurated the newly arranged railway reservation counter in front of RTC bus stand here on Saturday. Earlier, the locals had to go to the reservation counter at the Railway Station on the outskirts of the town for online ticket bookings. The railway authorities shifted the reservation counter to the present location for the convenience of the people.
