Kamareddy: District Collector Dr N Satyanarayana held a review meeting on Haritha Haaram here on Thursday and discussed with officials of various departments like Irrigation, Excise and MPDOs about the safety measures that have to be taken to protect the saplings that were planted.

He also discussed with them about the plants to be grown in nurseries in the year 2017, depending on the requirements. He said that the MPDOs should chalk out an action plan and ensure that all the saplings were watered on a regular basis so that they do not wither away.

The District Collector also held meetings with the Excise Sub-Inspectors of Police on the need to grow palm date plants and the measures to be taken to protect them. At the review meeting, it was decided to speed up the steps that should be taken to disburse salaries for the workers of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS).

The details regarding the payments should be uploaded online, he added. As the Kamareddy district was lagging behind in this respect, the works should be completed within three days, he said and added that the MGNREGS works should be started immediately.

Collector Satyanarayana said that the toddy tappers should be entrusted to cultivate palm and date palm trees. The Excise Constables should be entrusted with the task of protecting the palm trees and the plants on the banks of various lakes. They should carry out surveys at the field levels and submit reports on a daily basis, he added.

Joint Collector Subbaiah, DRDA Project Director Chandramohan Reddy, Kamareddy RDO Nagesh, Excise department Superintendent Chandrashekar, Divisional Forest Officer Balamani and others were present.
