TWF accuses TRS of going back on promises

Khammam: Accusing the ruling party of deceiving women by making false promises, State President of Telangana Women Federation (TWF) Potu Kalavathi stated that it had become a habit for the political parties to make promises before going to elections and later deceive the people.

Speaking at a meeting held under the leadership of Munna Lakshmi Kumari and Thati Nirmala at CPI party office in Khammam on Thursday, Kalavathi claimed that the government which introduced Kalyana Lakshmi and Shadi Mubarak prestigiously for women has forgot to implement them with same enthusiasm. “Out of hundreds of applications, only one or two applicants are benefitted that too with the involvement of middlemen,” she alleged.

Before coming to power, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao praised Telangana women for taking part in separate Statehood struggle. But after coming to power, he did not accommodate even a single women representative in his cabinet, she criticised.

“Even the Prime Minister Narendra Modi too made many promises before going to elections, but failed to fulfil after he came to power. Attacks on women were even more increased after Modi came to power,” she alleged.

Stating that many woman involved in small businesses were facing severe problems and were unable to feed their families due to demonetisation, she alleged that the decision of ban on high-value currency was only to safeguard rich people but not for the welfare of poor and middle class. “For proper implementation of schemes and also women rights, we all must fight united against the government to teach a fitting lesson,” she said.

State leaders of TWF Srujana, Sada Lakshmi, Avuri Latha Devi, district leaders Mekala Veramma, Kanneboina Vijayamma, Mandadapu Rani, Sarojanamma, Mellacheruvu Lalitha and Nalini were present along with others.
