Khammam: The district secretary of CPI, Bagam Hemanth Rao, demanded the government to explain the need for shifting of Collectorate from the existing place, and declare the names of those exerting pressure on the government for the move.

Addressing the newsmen at CPI party office in Khammam on Tuesday, Bagam questioned what was the need to shift the Collectorate, when it had rendered better services to about 46 mandals in the united Khammam district that when the number of officials were more in number in the past when compared to present.

“If the government wants, it can construct a new building in the existing Collectorate complex. Why the government had decided to shift the Collectorate by purchasing the valuable lands at Venkatayapalem by investing crores of public money?” he questioned.

Alleging that some of the peoples’ representatives who purchased lands at Venkatayapalem were exerting pressure on the government for shifting of Collectorate, he demanded the government to declare their names.

If the government failed to withdraw its decision of shifting of Collectorate, the CPI party along with the peoples’ organisations would launch agitations to teach the government a fitting lesson, he warned.
