Suryapet: The district police have arrested prisoner Pala Venkateshwar Rao who escaped from police custody at Kasarabad agriculture fields of Suryapet mandal on Tuesday.

Additional SP Gangaram produced the arrested before the media during a press meet held at Suryapet and informed that Venkateshwar Rao, a native of Anantapur district in Andhra Pradesh, was brought to Suryapet by Armed Reserve police from Anantapur sub-jail on Sunday late night.

He was to be produced before the court in Suryapet on Monday in connection with a robbery case that took place under Chivemla police station limits in 2014.

He was kept at police headquarters. He managed to escape from the police custody in the wee hours of Monday. Alerted officials informed the same to district SP Prakash Jadav. Following SP’s direction, 10 police teams were formed to detain Rao.

The teams conducted intense search operations in and around the Suryapet and Chivemla mandals. On Monday night along the Musi belt in Suryapet mandal, the police found Rao who was hiding in agriculture fields at Kasarabad and arrested him.

Informing that Rao was wanted in 30 cases, the SP police teams for successfully detaining Rao. Deputy Superintendent of Police Nageshwar Rao, CI Mogilaiah and others attended the press meet.
