Hanamkonda: Four persons were arrested and a huge haul of ganja worth around Rs 10 lakh and a car was seized from their possession by the Commissionerate police near Chelapally in Atmakur police limits on Wednesday.

Speaking to media persons, the Commissioner of Police G Sudheer Babu said that the accused procured ganja from some unknown persons in Visakhapatnam of Andhra Pradesh in a bid to resell the same in Maharashtra at a profitable price. He said that the accused, who got addicted to luxurious life planned to procure ganja from AP and resell it in Maharashtra where they would get huge profits.

The accused were identified as Pavuralla Venkatesh, Amboji Venkatesh, Anantula Sambaiah, all belonging to Sayampet mandal, and Kokkarakonda Chandraiah of Atmakur mandal in Warangal Rural district. The other member of the gang Varipally Karthi is at large.

It’s learnt that on a tip-off to the ACP M Venkatramana Reddy, the Atmakur police conducted vehicle checks near Chelapally village where the accused were taken into custody. The CP lauded the staff for apprehending the accused.
