Khammam: The Telangana Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi alleged that Bharatiya Janata Party was deceiving people belonging to Scheduled Castes by deviating from its promise of SC categoristation.

Speaking at a district level meeting of the Samithi at Ambedkar Bhavan in Khammam on Wednesday, state president of the Samithi Yathakula Bhaskar stated that many from SC community were living in miserable conditions.

He said people who use to play drums (Madiga Dappu) were unable to continue their profession with introduction of number of wide variety of musical instruments in the market.

“The State government is sanctioning pension to handloom workers, toddy tappers and beedi workers. In the same way, it should sanction a pension of Rs 2,000 for poor belonging to SC community,” he demanded.

He alleged that the BJP government that promised of categorisation of SCs during the polls, has went back on its promise. “The Centre by inviting all parties must introduce the bill in the Parliament and must fulfil the poll promise,” he demanded, further accusing MRPS president Manda Krishna Madiga of using the organisation for his political growth instead of growth of the Madigas.

Several Samithi leaders were present along with others.
