Thousands of devotees thronged the Yadadri shrine on Friday on the occasion of Mukkoti Ekadasi. As many as 15,000 devotees from far flung places arrived at the Sri Laxminarasmiha Swamy temple for the Uttara Dwara Darshanam of the presiding deity.

Yadadri: Thousands of devotees thronged the Yadadri shrine on Friday on the occasion of Mukkoti Ekadasi. As many as 15,000 devotees from far flung places arrived at the Sri Laxminarasmiha Swamy temple for the Uttara Dwara Darshanam of the presiding deity.

Devotees have started queuing up on the temple premises from 3 am to catch up the glimpse of the Lord at Balalayam. The flower-decked Uttara Dwaram was opened for devotees amidst chants of Vedas by the priest at 6.45 am and was left open till 9 am.

On the day, the priests performed special pujas and Aaradhana, Thiruppavai, Alankara seva before opening the Uttara Dwaram. After the Uttara Dwara Darshanam, Nava Kalapa Manjanam was performed to the presiding deity and was deity was taken out on the Garuda Vahanam.

Government Whip Gongidi Sunitha, District Collector Anita Ramachndran, MLA Errabelli Dayakar Rao, MP Vinod and his family members took part in puja programmes.

Meanwhile, the Adyanotsavalu, which will continue till January 3, began in the Yadadri temple on Friday on a grand scale after the priests performed special poojas. To mark the event, the temple officials cancelled daily rituals like Nitya/Saswatha Kalyanalu, Bramotsavalu and Sudarsana Narsimha Homam for the six days.

Further the Vaishnavite temples in Nalgonda and Suryapet districts witnessed a huge rush. Yoga Laxmi Narasimha Swamy temple of Mattampally and Venkateshwara Swamy temples in Suryapet saw huge rush of devotees. Sri Sita Ramachandra Swamy temple located at Ramagiri in Nalgonda attracted thousands of devotees.

Further, thousands of devotees visited Pathagutta temple for the Uttara Dwara Darshanam on Friday. In view of the ongoing Yadadri temple development works atop the hill and inadequate facilities there, many devotees were seen at the Pathagutta temple. There were also more local visitors and VIPs.

Among those who visited the shrine were Yadadri Temple Development Authority vice-chairman Kishan Rao, Yadadri Temple Executive Officer Geeta Reddy, local public representatives and officials.
