Hyderabad: Though the political climate in the State is heating up, several senior leaders and former Ministers of Congress are yet to break their silence and participate vigorously in the party activities and in the campaign against the government.

Most of the former Ministers have confined themselves to indoors and not visiting Gandhi Bhavan, the State Congress headquarters. This has been raising questions on the coordination between the State leadership and the seniors.

Several senior leaders like P Laxmaiah (former PCC president), former Deputy Chief Minister Damodara Raja Narasimha, former Ministers P Sabitha Reddy, P Sudershan Reddy, V Venkateswara Rao, S Chandrasekhar, Sunitha Laxma Reddy, former Speaker K R Suresh Reddy and others are yet to break their silence and to join the activities of the Congress.

The former Ministers have confined themselves to their respective districts and are busy consolidating their position in their constituencies. Their presence in the Congress activities at the State level is quite rare in the past three-and-a-half years. They have participated in programmes being organised by the party in their own districts. This has put a big burden on the few State leaders in running the activities at the State level and campaign against the government.

A senior leader of the party opined that the former Ministers should come out and take on the government on various issues so that the ruling party was exposed on various fronts.
As the former Ministers are quite aware of the programmes taken up during the Congress regime, they are the right persons to impress upon the people on work done by the previous government. They could also expose the TRS government’s failures with their experience and reach.

A few senior leaders of Congress are worried over the blitzkrieg of the government. The ruling party campaign, in its favour and against the previous government, has become a concern for them. The government was able to manipulate the facts and was able to convince the people that the previous government did nothing, they opined.

The Congress is still unable to drive home the point among the people that it was only reason for the creation of Telangana State, leaving the entire credit to the ruling TRS. Though the previous Congress government planned several irrigation projects and power plants, which have been launched by the present government, it was unable to tell the people about the same.
