Hyderabad: Murder of Nalgonda municipal chairperson Lakshmi’s husband B Srinivas led to a verbal war between the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and Opposition Congress leaders here on Monday. While the Congress leaders alleged that it was a political murder, the TRS leaders asked the Congress leaders not to make a ‘street fight’ into ‘State fight’.
The TRS leaders, in a press conference, lashed out at the Congress leaders for casting aspersions on the government. Government Whip Palla Rajeshwar Reddy said even after the police clearly stating that all the accused were Congress leaders, Congress party MLA Komatireddy Venkata Reddy was alleging that the government was involved in the murder.
“I request the Congress leaders not to make a street fight into a State fight,” said Rajeshwar Reddy. He said there were no allegations against the TRS government during the last three-and-a-half years and now the Congress leaders were leveling baseless allegations to get political mileage.
The Congress leaders alleged that the police were speaking the version of the TRS and there was a conspiracy to kill the Congress leaders in the State. However, Rajeshwar Reddy said that Srinivas’s wife Lakshmi, during her first interaction with the media, did not make any allegation against the TRS leaders or Ministers, but the Congress leaders forced the lady to make comments against the TRS government.
He said that when the Congress leaders had issues locally, they should have brought to the notice of the district SP or with the higher officials in Hyderabad. Stating that the murder was unfortunate, MLA N Bhaskar Rao said instead of indulging in allegations, the Congress leaders should have come to the rescue of the family of the deceased. MLA K Prabhakar Reddy alleged that the Komatireddy brothers had become care of address for lies. These two brothers knew their fate as they were going to lose the next elections and hence they were trying to gain sympathy, he alleged.
He said the government was constructing a hospital in Nalgonda and there should be a block to cure mental patients and Venkata Reddy should be taken as the first patient in the block.
