District Janamytry police along with Hethu Vaadha Sangam conducted an awareness programme at Teratigudem under Gurrampodu mandal on Friday to educate people against superstition. The awareness programme was conducted in the wake of murder of Kanneboina Ramulu in the village on February 27  due to blind belief in black magic.

The awareness programme was conducted in the wake of murder of Kanneboina Ramulu in the village on February 27 due to blind belief in black magic.

The murder took place in full public view. Speaking on the occasion, Hethu Vaadha Sangam leader Yogineni Babu dismissed the sorcery and other superstitions as blind beliefs. He exhorted the villagers to develop scientific temper and shun superstitions. Police Kala Jatha performed cultural programmes with songs and dances on superstitions.

Circle Inspector of Police Shiva Ram Reddy warned the villagers that if the same culture continued in the village in the name of superstitions, stringent action would be taken against the guilty. In this programme, villagers of Teratigudem hamlet participated.
