Bhongir: MP Bura Narasiah Goud said the women in the country are being given great respect. On Thursday, he was attending as chief guest at the International Women’s Day celebrations organised by the district administration at Dolphin hotel in Bhongir.

Addressing the gathering, Narasaiah Goud said even though women secured empowerment, still there is a need to give good support to them in all respects to ensure that they get equal rights. He expressed concern over the gender discrimination, and female foeticide, besides increasing attacks on women.

Women gave their support for the development of the country after Independence, he said.
Stating, women are good managers of families, he said that if the women take interest in science and technology, Indian will reach top position globally, he said.

It is duty of everyone to respect and encourage the women to create a healthy society, he added. He advised bankers and other organisations to issue loans in the name of women to facilitate them to become good entrepreneurs.

District Collector Anitha Ramachandran stated that the district administration is taking several measures for the development of rural women by giving them support. The State government has launched programmes like dairy, free coaching etc for women. She advised women to change their mindset and move ahead with confidence to become successful in life.

On this occasion, as many as Rs 118 crore worth of loans were distributed to women groups in the district. In this program, J C Ravi Naik, MLC, Krishna Reddy, Trainee Collector Dr Priyanka, Muncipal Chairperson Lavanya, Women Welfare Officer Sharadha, RDO Bhoopal Reddy and others participated.

District administrations of Nalgonda and Suryapet also conducted Women’s Day celebrations at their respective district headquarters and felicitated eminent women in different fields.
