Mahbubnagar: With an aim to provide better rural healthcare services in the rural areas, Health Minister C Laxma Reddy distributed scooters to 80 ANMs in the district on Monday. While speaking on the occasion, the Minister said the TRS government is an employee friendly government and is providing all the facilities to the employees for enabling them to deliver better service to the public.

As part of this, the State government has launched the ‘Project Rekkalu’ scheme under which the ANMs and other rural health worker are being provided with scooters to help them serve patients. “The ANMs who visit the villages are suffering due to lack of proper transportation.

“To overcome this, we have launched the ‘project Rekkalu’ to facilitate the ANMs to provide scooters with some financial support from the government side. As part of this we are providing Rs 10,000 from National Health Mission, another Rs 5,000 from Collector’s crucial balance fund and the dealers are giving a discount of Rs 3,000 from their profits.

In all, each ANM will get the scooter on a subsidy of Rs 18,000 each, while the remaining will be paid by them in small instalments,” said the Minister. By giving vehicles to the ANMs the government is expecting that the healthcare workers will be more accessible to the people in the villages and better healthcare services can be provided to
them on time.
