Jyothiba birth anniversary celebrated

Nalgonda: The 192 birth anniversary celebrations of Mahatma Jyothiba Phule were held on grand scale in Nalgonda, Suryapet and Yadadri –Bhongir districts on Wednesday. The district administration organised the celebrations in the erstwhile Nalgonda district.

In Nalgonda, district collector Gaurav Uppal said Phule had strived hard to root out illiteracy, superstitions and caste discrimination in the society. He aggressively worked hard for rooting out the social evil like child marriage in the society.

Member of Parliament Badugula Lingaiah Yadav said the State government had introduced several welfare schemes for weaker sections. The State government was following in the footsteps of the Phule and striving for the upliftment of Dalits, he said. He recalled that he had promoted women’s education.

He exhorted the youth to follow in the the footsteps of Phule and participate in social activities.In Suryapet, District Collector Surendra Mohan along with local people’s representatives, officials and leaders of Backward Classes organisations offered floral tributes to the statue of Jyothiba Phule and paid floral tributes to him.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said the government had itnroduce various welfare schemes for weaker sections.In Yadadri–Bhongir district, Collector Anitha Ramachandran along with MP Boora Narsaiah Goud, MLA Shekar Reddy, MLC A Krishna Reddy participated in Phule Jayanthi celebrations held at RDO office in Bhongir.People’s representatives and officials recalled the valuable services contributed by the Phule in rooting out social evils.
