CPM leaders demands purchase of water-soaked corn in Khammam

The CPI-M leaders visited Khammam Agriculture Market Yard and inspected the water-soaked corn and interacted with the farmers.
Speaking on the occasion, Sudharshan Rao alleged that the government was not showing interest in purchasing the damaged corn.
The farmers are being cheated time and again in the Khammam Agriculture Market. Though the farmers are bringing produce from far-off places, the officials at the Market yard are not purchasing the produce immediately. As the farmers are forced to wait till their produce is purchased. At times, the produce is getting damaged due to untimely rains, he said.
The TRS government is boasting about the scheme under input subsidy of Rs 4,000 per an acre of land is being distributed. But it failed to ensure minimum support price to agriculture produce. He criticised the government for opening only nine procurement centre as against 13 last year.
Speaking on the occasion, District Secretary of the CPI-M Nunna Nageshwar Rao demanded that the government open 19 procurement centres.
CPI-M party leaders B Lenin, Y Srikanth, B Veerabhadram, M Ramesh, Y Srinivas, T Lingaiah, Shaik Babu, J Sangaiah and the District President of YSR Congress party L Sudheer Babu were present.
