Kothaugudem: Mentally and physically disabled children were deprived off training classes in summer since the centers were closed due to summer holidays.

The students attend the centers under Bhavitha scheme, a part of Rajiv Vidya Mission. This scheme is presently known as Sarva Siksha Abhiyan in the State.

About 2,812 children are attending 32 centres in the 17 mandals in the district. Of the 32 centers, only six have own buildings and the remaining were being run in high schools. The students will study in these schools and will get physiotherapy training also.

The government has recruited education research persons on contract basis. There are 32 teachers in all the centers and the school timings are from 9 am to 4 pm.

Of the total 2,812 students, 255 students will come to the centers for learning and 187 students came for physiotherapy. Another 124 students, who are totally handicapped, will be taught in their hosues.

Now these students were deprived of treatment and physiotherapy facing problems for the last two months due to summer vacations as the schools were closed following the government orders.

A student’s mother, A Lakshmi asked the government to continue the classes and training in summer also. Speaking to The Hans India, Sectorial Officer Madhavi said the centers were closed as per the orders of the State government and the classes will be conducted as per the government schedule
