Christians take out huge rally on Good Friday

Gudivada (Krishna): Thousands of Christians participated in the 'Good Friday' programme in the town. A huge procession which commenced at the local Kalvari Sannidhi church in Ganesh Nagar passed through the main streets of the town. The enactment of Jesus crucifixion in the rally attracted the attention of people. Mr. A Krupanandam acted as Jesus Christ carrying a cross on his shoulders in the rally. Johnson, Swami, Satyanarayana and Satish acted as soldiers. Other believers joined the rally carrying the cross. Former MLA Raavi Venkateshwara Rao has arranged 3,000 water packets for distribution to the participants in the rally. RCM Church rally Another procession was taken out in the town under the auspices of the local RCM Church on Eluru Road. Speaking on the occasion, Mount Carmel Church Fr IM Swaminathan said Jesus Christ had suffered and sacrificed his life by taking the burden of sins of humanity. Lent season is observed by Christians remembering the Christ's sacrifice, he said. Gudivada Catholic Association president Yeleti William Joshi, Gudapati Raju, Kare Srinivas, Vincent De Paul, other society members and thousands of Christians participated in the programme.
