nuzividNuzivid: Former Nuzivid MLA Meka Venkata Pratap Appa Rao took the government officials to task for misleading the people on the completion of the Rs 10- crore project intended to meet the drinking water needs of the people of the town. Addressing the media here on Wednesday, the project was sanctioned by late YS Rajasekhara Reddy to solve the recurring drinking water problem of the town. The project envisaged diversion to Krishna waters to the town. The project works supposed to complete in two years are still going on after five years. The officials' stock reply is that water would be released by March ending. He said with the potential of the town becoming satellite town of Vijayawada, the inordinate delay in the execution of the project would harm the development process in the town. In addition, the municipality was spending Rs 10 to Rs 15 lakhs every year to provide drinking water in the town, which was an additional burden, he said. Former Agricultural Market Committee chairman Abhishek and former councilor Seelam Ramu, among others, participated.
