Vijayawada: The Chief Minister, N Kiran Kumar Reddy, was accorded a warm welcome when he arrived at the Gannavaram airport here on Friday on his way to Guntur and Prakasam districts. APCC president and Minister for Transport, Botcha Satyanarayana accompanied him. Minister for Social Welfare P Satyanarayana, legislators Malladi Vishnu, Vellampalli Srinivas, Yalamanchili Ravi and D Y Das, District Collector Dr Buddha Prakash M Jyothi, Joint Collector P Usha Kumari, city Police Commissioner N Madhusudhana Reddy, former minister Devineni Rajasekhar Nehru, former legislator Mudraboyina Venkateswara Rao, Congress leaders N Narasimha Rao, Adapa Sivanagendra, Kolanukonda Sivaji and others received the Chief Minister on arrival. The Chief Minister then left for Guntur district by helicopter to participate in the awareness programme on SC, ST Sub Plan at Phirangipuram of Tadikonda Assembly segment in Guntur district. CM to visit city on April 17 The district administration is getting ready for the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy's visit to the city on April 17. The Chief Minister is likely to launch the Amma Hastam programme in the district. The District Collector, Dr Buddha Prakash M Jyothi, Joint Collector, P Usha Kumari, city Police Commissioner N Madhusudhana Reddy, Municipal Commissioner G S Panda Das, local MLA Malladi Vishnu and others visited Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation Stadium, where they proposed to organise the Chief Minister's meeting. The Chief Minister had already launched the programme in Hyderabad on April 11, during Ugadi celebrations. The State government has directed the officials at the district-level to organise formal launching programmes in the respective districts to take the scheme to the door steps of the people. Accordingly, the officials from Krishna district have planned for the programme on April 16. However, the officials have posted the programme for April 17, expecting the Chief Minister to attend the programme. The officials have proposed Indira Gandhi Stadium for the public meeting in which the Chief Minister would launch the programme in Krishna district. The district in-charge Minister, Thota Narasimham, Minister for Secondary Education, KP Saradhi and others are expected to participate in the programme. The Amma Hastam is the programme launched by the government to provide nine provisions to the poor at Rs 185 through fair price shops.
