Vijayawada: The striking Andhra Pradesh Non-Gazetted Officers are firm on holding Samaikyandhra meeting in Hyderabad on September 7. They said that the meeting would go as per schedule and requested the Telangana leaders not to disturb the meeting. They also urged the people of Seemandhra to make the meeting a success and thus make the Delhi leaders realise the strong wish of the majority people for unity of the State.
Speaking to the media here on Friday, the APNGOs west Krishna president and employees’ Joint Action Committee chairman, AV Sagar, said that they have met the leaders of all political parties at the national level during their visit to Delhi and requested them to oppose division of Andhra Pradesh. He said that majority leaders have accepted their request while the leaders of the BJP and the CPI have promised to stand by Seemandhra people for justice as they were for division. He said that the APNGOs delegation had succeeded in making the national leaders realise the mistake in dividing the State and asserted that the division procedure would be halted for now.
He further said that they have also decided to go ahead with the schedule to organise the public meeting in Hyderabad in support of Samaikyandhra and asserted that the meeting would be a success. He wanted the people of the State to converge at the meeting and give their voice for integrated State.
Sagar took strong exception to the way the national media, particularly the electronic media was ignoring the Samaikyandhra movement. He said that the national media was not giving due coverage for Samaikyandhra movement, not even on par with the Bodoland agitation. He said that they have already expressed their displeasure to the management of the national media and have given time to change their attitude towards the Samaikyandhra agitation. He said that they have also requested the cable operators from Seemandhra to withdraw national channels from September 1 indefinitely.
He further said that they would intensify the agitation from September 2 with more employees and their organsiations joining the movement. He thanked the traders and every section of the people for joining the movement to protect the State from being divided. The NGO leaders Md Iqbal, K Madhusudhana Raju and others were present.
