Vijayawada: The striking employees of the Seemandhra and Hyderabad would hold their next ‘Save Andhra Pradesh’ meeting here in the city tentatively on September 20. This was disclosed here on Thursday by the Krishna district Joint Action Committee chairman, A V Sagar.
Speaking to media persons, Sagar said that the meeting in Hyderabad on September 7 was a grand success though the High Court had restricted it only for the employees. He said that they have restricted the the gathering for the meeting in Hyderabad and conducted the meeting peacefully without getting provoked by the Telangana activists. He said that the Telangana activists had tried in all forms to disrupt the meeting and also to create violence. The activists had pelted stones on vehicles carrying the Seemandhra employees, raised Jai Telangana slogans at the meeting venue. The police too were in favour of Telangana and cited the example of a constable raising Jai Telangana slogans at the meeting venue while on duty. In another incident, the police at Dilshukhnagar had abused the Seemandhra activists for holding meeting, Sagar added. He further said that the employees observed utmost restraint from the provocative acts of the Telangana activists and the leaders too.
He said that now, as a follow up to the meeting, they have proposed to hold the second meeting in Vijayawada on September 20 and the venue would be identified in the next couple of days. He said this meeting would have even the general public and they would invite one person from every house in all the 13 Seemandhra districts. This would be the biggest meeting ever held in the State which would send clear signals to the UPA government against division of the State. He asserted that the UPA leadership would change its decision and keep the State united.
Sagar said that the 48 hour bandh in Krishna district was total with all sections of the people supporting the bandh. He said that tea stalls to the cinema halls, educational institutions were closed for the two days in all towns across Krishna district with people volunteering. He said that they were also holding ‘Mahila Garjana’ in the city on Friday at the Swarajya Maidan. He said women leaders from all government departments, teachers, advocates, doctors and other professionals, students would join the Garjana to express their protest against division of the State.
