Eluru: West Godavari District Collector Siddharth Jain has asked the bankers and LPG distributors to achieve 60 per cent and 80 per cent of Aadhaar seeding targets respectively by September. He presided over the district bankers meet at the Collectorate here on Thursday.
He asked the bankers and LPG distributors to expedite the process of linking Aadhaar number to LPG connection and bank accounts notwithstanding the due date of November 30, as the Government had already started the implementation of the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme. ‘Besides subsidy on LPG cylinders, Aadhaar is also essential for various other welfare programmes implemented by the government’ he added.
The Collector told the officials that two study groups would be sent to Adilabad and East Godavari districts to study the implementation of the project. Aadhaar scheme was first implemented in the State in these two districts. Siddharth Jain underscored the importance of innovative campaigns to create awareness amaong rural people about the scheme.
He also told the lead bank manager to make available the Aadhaar data for implementation of various other welfare schemes. He asked the officials to gather the details of persons who had not received Aadhaar cards and Unique Identity Numbers (UIN), so that the matter can be taken up with Aadhaar Assistant General PSN Murthy who is scheduled to visit the city in the third week of this month.
He sought the cooperation people for the success of scheme. Out of total 10 lakh LPG connections in the district, UIN was linked with 5 lakh connections. He asked the bankers to furnish the progress of seeding process on every Friday to the Lead Bank manager.
Collector lauds the services of bankers
The Collector lauded the bank officials for exceeding farm loan targets set for Kharif 2013. Loans to the tune of Rs 125 crore, much above the target Rs 110 crore were distributed to the tenant farmers in the district. He assured the bankers that special recovery teams would be constituted at mandal levels to recover the loan amount. Joint Collector T Baburao Naidu, Andhra Bank DGM D Nagaraju Naidu, NABARD DDM Madhu Murthy, Lead Bank District Manager S Lakshminarayana, IOC Area Manger JB Sharma and others participated in the meeting.
