Hyderabad: Bigwigs from the Telugu film industry came to attend a meeting at Annapurna Studios in Hyderabad on Saturday to discuss the issue of casting couch and other problems plaguing the industry. First, it was decided to allow even junior artistes to attend the meeting but later only the producers and directors were allowed to take part in the meeting, thus, incensing the junior artistes.

This led to tension at the premises. As a precautionary measure, police beefed up security at the Annapurna Studios as thousands of fans of Pawan Kalyan started arriving there. They started raising slogans against Ram Gopal Varma and Sri Reddy and in support of Pawan Kalyan.

On coming to know of their arrival, Pawan Kalyan came out of the meeting to address them. In his address, he said that he had absolutely no personal grudge with anybody in the film industry or the media in the two Telugu states, but some people were making deliberate attempts to malign his character. He blamed Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister for instigating the three Telugu channels to criticise him.

Pawan said that he was hurt when they started abusing his mother for no fault of hers and they also dragged his family unnecessarily into the controversy. Why should he keep quiet when he was being criticised repeatedly for the past eight months, he asked and added that there was a limit to his patience. Pawan Kalyan urged his fans and Jana Sena activists to maintain calm and not to take law into their hands even under extreme provocation when some of his fans said that they would go to any extent to save his honour and do anything for him.

He said that it was not correct to damage public or private properties as nobody was above law. Some of the police officials met him and urged him to restrain his fans from damaging vehicles, he added. He told the police that he never instigated his fans to damage public property or take law into their hands. He said that he cannot be held responsible for the mistakes of others. He wondered as to how long he should keep quiet when he was being provoked repeatedly.

He also advised his fans not to be harsh towards the journalists.Referring to Sri Reddy, he said that if any woman takes off her clothes in public, he would offer a piece of cloth to cover herself and protect her honour. He said that he would wage a long legal battle to seek justice. With folded hands, he urged his fans to maintain peace and calm and went back into the meeting.
