Heavy rains disrupt life in Telangana, AP; 10 killed

As heavy rains lashed Telangana and Andhra Pradesh on Thursday, ten people lost their lives. All of them were killed in various rain-related incidents with five reported dead from Telangana and an equal number of deaths were reported from Andhra Pradesh.

Both the Telugu states received unseasonal rains which brought much-needed relief from the scorching heat. However, the rains accompanied by hailstorm and gusty winds affected the normal life, uprooting trees and electricity poles, inundating low-lying areas, affecting vehicular traffic and electricity supply along with causing widespread damage to crops.

A seven-year-old boy succumbed to death when he was struck by lightning while playing under a tree at Karmanghat in the outskirts of Hyderabad.
