With ration dealers in Telangana set to undertake a strike from July 1 onwards, the state government is taking measures to ensure that poor people will not face any difficulties in obtaining essential commodities.

The Civil Supplies Department officials have decided to utilise the services of women self-help groups for distribution of essentials to beneficiaries.

As per the Food Security Act, the Telangana government said that ration dealers have a responsibility to distribute essentials for poor and hence, arrangements have been made to supply ration commodities to all the beneficiaries from July 5th.

The ration dealers’ main demands are monthly salaries and release of Rs 600 crore dues.
