Vijayawada is fast becoming a headache for the YSRCP. The Vijayawada Central seat has turned out to be the bone of contention with both Vangaveeti Radha faction and the Vellampally faction fighting it out.
High drama was witnessed on Sunday when the party’s trade wing’s state committee met at Vijayawada. The meet sent clear indications that the party wants Malladi Vishnu to spearhead that party affairs in Vijayawada Central seat. This means he would be the MLA candidate for this seat. The party asked Malladi Vishnu to spearhead the party’s door-to-door campaign starting from Monday.
Senior leaders like Botsa Satyanarayana, Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy, K Partha Sarathy, Samineni Udayabhanu and Vellampalli Srinivas were present at the meeting. The party leaders indicated that Vangaveeti Radha should contest from Machilipatnam Lok Sabha seat. On hearing this, Radha stood up and left the venue. In Vijayawada West too, the party leaders were told to set aside group politics and work under the leadership of Vellampalli Srinivas.
Angry supporters of Vangaveeti Radha tore down the posters of YSRCP near Radha’s residence and have launched a protest at the Vangaveeti Ranga statue on Bandar Road. Meanwhile several YSRCP leaders have rushed to Radha’s house to mollify him.
