Hope of a new chapter for India and Maldives

Prime minister Narendra Modi held talks with the Maldivian president Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to repair the damaged relation between two countries and strengthen Bilateral Ties.

This is Mohamed Solih’s first trip after assuming presidency a month ago. External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj initiated the talks of mutual interests. This new chapter comes after the damaging emergency imposed by then president abdulla yameen on february 5 which lasted for 45 days.

Indian Government criticized the move and demanded the release the political prisoners , and asked to restore the credibility of the electoral and political process of the then government.
